Entry 1 Conceiving a Dream So
Davey and I went to watch the Bucket List. I absolutely loved that
movie. I've always said that if a movie made me cry then it must have
been a good one. This one had me bawling.
I looked back on my
life, back to the days when I was in college and working for Encounter
(a company that is like Outward Bound), I reminisced back to my hiking
days, backpacking days, SCUBA diving days, rock climbing days and
thought, what is one thing I've always wanted to do?
HIKE THE APPALACHIAN TRAIL.
Whoa did I just say that?
HIKE THE APPALACHIAN TRAIL.
I guess I did.
I
thought to myself, that's gonna sound crazy. Who just up and says, "Ya
know what? For my 50th birthday, I wanna be covered in dirt, freezing
my caboose off and sipping water out of the ground through a straw in
the middle of the Appalachian Trail." The general consensus is... No
one.
But I'm not just anybody, am I?
So after that moment, I ordered my first hiking book and waited in anticipation to start working on my dream, realized.
Follow
me on this journey, through the ups and downs. Laugh and cry with me as
I catch my dreams. But you can do it in the comfort of your own home.
As for me? Well, I've got my pack over my shoulders and some GORP in my
hand... and the Trail calls for me by my name.
But you can call me "Catching Dreams."
